West Coast Cremation & Burial Services offers an affordable and dignified cremation package to families in Escondido CA, San Diego CA, Riverside CA, Palm Springs CA, FallBrook CA, and Oceanside CA. The purpose of a direct cremation is to keep things as simple as possible. Therefore, direct cremations do not include aspects of a traditional funeral such as embalming, visitation, limousines, a hearse or a service. You may, of course, hold a memorial at a later date at a time and place convenient or special to family and friends.

In keeping with yours and our desire to keep things simple, we have a single simple cremation plan for your consideration. Our simple cremation plan provides all of the services and products necessary.

Choose this if your loved one died in San Diego, San Bernardino or Riverside County.

Mandatory Fees and Taxes

The California Department of Consumer Affairs has a mandatory flat fee of $8.50 for each cremation that takes place. There is a cremation permit fee of $12.00 required for each cremation that takes place. A sales tax of 8% is charged on all purchased merchandise.

Fees for Handling Cremated Remains

For shipping an urn via USPS to an address within the continental USA, we charge $75.00. To scatter the cremated remains off the coast of Newport, CA at sea by our staff alone, we charge $225.00. If you would prefer permanent placement of the cremated remains at the Ossuary at Menifee Valley Cemetery, we charge $378.00.

Transparency of costs at all times

Our package will include a breakdown of all of the components for a simple cremation. The statement you receive will have a breakdown of the crematory fee, the cost of permits, and the cost of any death certificate(s) you requested.

Questions about the cost of our cremations?

After you have chosen the cremation with the options you decided on, and before you enter your credit card information for payment, an itemization of the charges for the cremation, including taxes and fees. This allows you to determine the total cost of the plan.

You are strongly advised to examine our General Price List before you order a cremation. If we came to visit you in person, we would hand you our General Price List before discussing arrangements. This practice is to protect your rights.

You can be sure you and your loved one will be treated with respect always. To offer closure, you may witness the beginning of the cremation process.


You’ll be quoted the complete price of the cremation upfront (no surprise costs). You won’t be charged for something that is not necessary or hasn’t been done.


We’ll never sub-contract our services. Your loved one will be identified at every stage, so you can be certain you’ll receiving your loved one back after the cremation.

Your loved one’s records will be filed on time, kept in a secure location, and made available to the authorities to ensure that we comply with the law.
